It is all good and well winning the championship but that means a hefty entry fee for the next season with Mercedes set to pay $5.5m for 2020.
While teams pay a standard entry fee to the FIA, they also pay per point scored in the previous season.
That means Mercedes, who won the 2019 championship with 765 points, can expect a hefty bill for 2020.
That’s been increased by the FIA’s decision to up the amount teams need to pay for their previous year’s points.
While the basic entry fee is $556,509, Autosport reports that the point fee is $5,563 per point except for Mercedes.
They get to pay more, $6,677, because they won the championship.
