Mercedes boss Wolff to miss Brazilian GP

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has revealed he will not attend the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The Silver Arrows head to Interlagos after a week of celebrations, having secured their sixth straight title double in 2019.

A one-three finish at the Japanese GP saw Mercedes wrap up a sixth constructors’ championship in as many years, while Lewis Hamilton was crowned drivers’ champion for the sixth time in the USA.

Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas are also certain to finish first and second in the championship with just two races left to run.

As such, Wolff will use the opportunity to concentrate on other matters for the Silver Arrows, who will debut in Formula E a week after F1’s Brazil round.

“Brazil will be the first race since 2013 that I won’t attend,” he said.

“With both championships secured, it gives me more time in Europe to focus on other open topics. It’s great to be able to do this and to know that the team will represent the three-pointed star in the best way possible both on and off the track.”
