Although Kimi Raikkonen concedes the margins in F1’s midfield are “very small”, he feels Alfa Romeo can head to Silverstone confident of a good points-haul.
After weeks of complaining about a lack of pace, Alfa Romeo seemed to get on top of the issue last time out in Austria.
Raikkonen brought his C38 across the line in ninth place while his team-mate, Antonio Giovinazzi, was P10.
The result has boosted Raikkonen’s confidence ahead of the British Grand Prix.
“As a team, we have shown improvement in the last couple of races and I think Britain is another place where we can do well,” he said.
“Silverstone is always a good place to come back to. It’s an old-school track and it’s quite fun to drive, especially in the fast corners.
“As always, we will need to do a perfect job because the margins are very small between teams, but I am confident we can have another good result.”
As for Giovinazzi, he lost a chunk of his hair after bagging his first point of the campaign last time out in Austria.
He’s hoping his Red Bull Ring P10 is just the start.
“Scoring points in Austria felt good, but I feel there is so much more we can achieve,” said the Italian.
“We were competitive and we were able to extract more performance from our car than we had in the past, which is an encouraging sign for the future.
“Silverstone, as a track, should suit our car and I am confident we can fight once more for points.
“I definitely had a taste of the top ten now and I want to keep scoring points – perhaps without losing my hair as a consequence!”
