Lewis Hamilton socialised with the likes of Serena Williams, Harry Styles, and Jared Leto at last night’s Met Gala in New York City – a charity event created to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute which has become one of the most exclusive fashion nights of the year.
The Brit may be one of the most successful drivers in the history of Formula 1 with five world championships to his name, but is now equally well-known outwith the sport due to his huge celebrity status, and has become a regular at the Met Gala over the years.
His suit, designed by himself and Tommy Hillfiger, featured a silver and black zig-zag affect, while his cuban-style shoes and diamond cravat turned heads on the red carpet.
There is usually a theme at the event, and in 2019 it was ‘camp’.
Vogue editor Anna Wintour reportedly has the final say on who can be invited to the gala and stated this year that she wanted the 2019 outfits to be based on “irony, humour, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality and exaggeration”.
If any regular F1 fans want to head to the gala next year, it will cost them a cool $35,000.
Other celebrities who attended the event yesterday include Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Lupita Nyong’o, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Sophie Turner of Game of Thrones fame.
