Former Ferrari driver Rubens Barrichello has told Charles Leclerc he must be mentally strong to succeed at the Scuderia.
Barrichello claimed eleven race wins in Formula One but played second-fiddle to Michael Schumacher throughout his stint with the team between 2000 and 2005.
The 21-year-old, who stepped up to F1 with back-to-back titles in GP3 and Formula 2, will look to put pressure on four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel, but Barrichello warns he must possess the correct mentality to pull it off.
Speaking to Autosport, Barrichello said: “I’m super excited for him [Leclerc]
“He’s one of those young guys who really made his way through [impressively].
“To get into Ferrari [and be successful], the only thing you need is to be really good in your head. Talent, we know he has.
“It’s going to be a good challenge for Seb.”
Leclerc’s form improved dramatically upon the official announcement of his move to Ferrari.
After finishing ninth in Singapore, he followed that up at the next race in Russia by claiming seventh after a stunning early pass around the outside of Kevin Magnussen.
