Hamilton wins Japanese GP to close 2018 F1 title

Defending world champion Lewis Hamilton cruised to Japanese Grand Prix victory to take another major step to his fifth F1 world title.

The Pole sitter Hamilton to take 67 points lead, nearest title rival Sebastian Vettel finished only sixth after an early collision with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

The German made a rash overtaking move by with Verstappen while trying to overtake the Dutch driver. The accident on the eighth lap, after Vettel had moved from eighth on the grid to fourth, spun the Ferrari driver off the track, putting him back to 19th, before he eventually finished sixth.

The second Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas secured second place while Verstappen finished third. Daniel Ricciardo was fourth behind his Red Bull teammate, after starting 15th on the grid.

If Hamilton wins the next race in the United States, he will be champion with three races to spare in case Vettel finishes lower than second… more to follow
