‘Max Verstappen: Driver of the Day’ is a phrase that F1 fans are used to by now. Helped by his legion of Dutch fans, the Red Bull Racing teenager has won eight Driver of the Day this season but some of them not always as deserving as others.

Verstappen’s drive at the Brazilian Grand Prix has been spoken of alongside some of the great wet weather drives by Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher. The US Grand Prix on the other hand… yeahhhhh.
At Circuit of the Americas, he was out-qualified by his team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, mistakenly came into the pits when his Red Bull team weren’t ready for him, then retired from the race due to a gearbox problem and yep, he still won the Driver of the Day vote!

Verstappen’s almost assured place of Driver of the Day kick started a load of memes but thankfully, the 19-year-old can see the funny side of the whole thing.
During an interview with NBCSN, when told he was Driver of the Day (again) for his Brazilian Grand Prix performance, Verstappen said: “I think this time it was fair, in America it was a bit funny!”
